I used to write blog regularly when I was a secondary school student. But recently,I find it hard to post regularly with the reason --lack of time. I was pretty shock when I heard that PSY110's assignment (I mean this journal) can be done by blogging! Interesting ~
I always look forward to new semesters and new subjects everytime as I was eager to know who is my new teacher(perhaps lecturer or tutor now), who are my new classmates, and what the new subject will cover.
Actually, I have met up with you on the first week of my first sem in your office (accompanying my friend to ask about minoring). You look friendly and approachable and I assume that we'll have lots of fun with you this semester. Besides, I should have make my career path clearer after completing this subject.
I always believe that finding a job that suites myself is a very important issue as I knew that I will regret if I had a miserable life because of my job. Therefore, I consider my own interest as the fundamental issue. I always hear people mention that we should consider income as the priority while choosing a job. If you are clever enough, become a professional! You'll earn money, and you'll gain respect, and you'll have status! I was totally disagree with these so called "facts". The income of a cafe owner may not be as high as an executive manager or a lawyer, but the happiness he/she gain from his/her job wouldn't be lesser if he/she enjoys it! Or maybe one day the cafe owner develop his/her business, his/her income might be high as well. An actor who just start acting might not earn much. But if he/she have interest in acting, and he/she was recognise by the others as he/she act for some time, if he /she has the chance, he/she might become a famous actor and they make money too!
Why did you chose Psychology? Many who cares for me asked me this question.My answer is,"Psychology is the study of HUMAN BEHAVIOUR. Initially, it could help me to understand myself better as I always wanted to do this. Secondly, I assume that it might be helpful to the people around me. Moreover, I prefer to work with people in the future.Lastly,and this is the most important issue I consider, having the ability to understand human behaviour is important for living! Actually, I still don't have a clear path that I want to go for until now, but I am sure that we need to know how to get along with people wherever we are!
In my opinion, I am an extrovert. Therefore, it is very difficult for me to sit still and work with non-living things for long term. Thus, I assume my future career must be something that needs to deal with people. For example, I would like to become an educator (but I am not sure what am I going to teach...Perhaps, studying Psychology now might benefit my future students too!).
I have great interest in performing arts (Drama) and music. To me, life is boring if there is no drama, no music. I am a member of a chinese theatre outside and I am going through training sessions. In the future, I intend to combine what I have learnt and I love to become my career ( Maybe, an art therapist? a teacher?). Therefore, I haven't made any considerations about my income. Maybe, there might be changes after considering this issue. But definitely, I am still exploring at this moment.
What is the meaning of --- having a good career? Does it mean you need to earn a lot of money that will lead you to a luxury life? Or to work something that you have interest on it? Or if you are lucky, the something you have interest on it could make a lot of money? Haha~ different people have different perspective, but I always believed that interest and income
can come along together. I am totally agree with what you say---> Working is no more working if you loved what you work on! ( Yeah! No more working burdens!)
Nowadays, we have to accept the fact that money is really important to us! I remembered a phrase---> No money no talk. Although it is not good to be too materialistic, but at least we should be practical. I will never commit my whole life to interest only without concerning my income, as I need to survive, and I have the responsibility to take care of my parents! Thus if things never work like what I wish, I should have find a career that is related or similar to my interest but not something totally against my interest or my character. We'll perform well or even excellently if we chose the right career!
I felt so grateful that I have considerate parents that they always respect and support my choice. Thus, I have the freedom to choose my own career!
God bless me!
A poem to share with you~
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN -Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other,
as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I—I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.
